Starting July 1st, Microsoft is bundling Copilot AI directly into new Microsoft 365 Business plans. For small and medium businesses here in Trinidad and Tobago, this means AI assistance is no longer a separate add-on you have to budget for—it's just part of the package.

What's Actually Changing?

Microsoft is releasing new Microsoft 365 SKUs (that's their term for subscription tiers) that come with Copilot built in from day one. Instead of paying for your Microsoft 365 license and then adding Copilot separately, you'll get both together.

Think about what that looks like in practice: your team opens Word, Excel, or Outlook, and the AI assistant is already there. No extra setup, no separate billing conversation, no "we'll add that feature next quarter."

Why This Matters for T&T Businesses

If you've been curious about AI tools but hesitant about the additional cost or complexity, this removes a real barrier. A five-person accounting firm in Port of Spain or a logistics company in San Fernando can now access the same AI capabilities that larger enterprises have been using—without the enterprise-level price tag of buying Copilot as an add-on.

Here's what Copilot can actually do in your day-to-day:

  • Draft emails and documents – Give it a few bullet points, get a professional first draft
  • Summarize long email threads – Catch up on a conversation without reading 47 messages
  • Analyze spreadsheet data – Ask questions about your numbers in plain English
  • Take meeting notes in Teams – Join late and still know what you missed

What You Should Do Now

If you're on an existing Microsoft 365 Business plan, you'll want to understand how this affects your renewal and whether switching to the new SKUs makes sense for your team. The pricing and transition details matter, and they'll vary depending on your current setup.

We're already looking at the specifics so we can advise our clients properly when July comes around.
